Ah, the Mangotsfield Garlands. I'm afraid I don't think there's a connection, as far as I've gone - to John Garland, born in Oldbury on Severn in 1783 - but they kept showing up in my Ancestry searches, due to the unimaginative naming practices of the 19th century - there was a time I was convinced there were more people I wasn't related to living in Mangotsfield than anywhere else. :-)
