Long time, no post

I fully intended to do a long post about my holiday in Cornwall, but I came back to a lot to do and really the time seems to have passed. So just the short version and a link to my photos on Flickr.

I had a wonderful time in a part of Cornwall I'd never visited before. Highlights included:

Falmouth Maritime Museum - a really interesting, family friendly museum. Well worth a visit if you're in the area and at all interested in boats and the sea.

Land's End - lots of touristy exhibitions but also some beautiful countryside, and having been to John O'Groats, it only seemed right to complete the set. And the Doctor Who exhibition - a multimedia show rather than a museum exhibit, but a lot of fun. It's no doubt my childish side but I still enjoy the nervous thrill of being shouted at by a Dalek. :-) My pictures from there.

St Ives - a fascinating town and one I really want to visit again.

Goonhilly - a must see for anyone interested in communications technology or the history of the past 50 years. Not just because of the free Internet. ;-)

Gweek Seal Sanctuary - a fascinating place, all the more because it feels real, a little run down perhaps, not just a glossy tourist attraction with perfect animals.

And the St Ives to St Erth railway line is just beautiful and had me humming a certain song about Slow Trains for a lot of my journey home. :-)
