I fully intend to do a proper Sarehole post...

In the meantime though, a couple of admin things. [personal profile] muuranker - I've got your cake slice, which came home with me in the food bag. If you need it urgently I can send it to you, or give it to you next time I see you.

Also the battle that [personal profile] bella_luugosi and I were talking about...Tewkesbury Medieval Festival. The 11th is the committee meeting, but it would be great to get together a party to visit on the Sunday.

There once was a cake-slice which lead a very ordinary life in Dudley. It cut Christmas cakes, and birthday cakes, and sometimes dreamed of maybe, one day, a wedding cake.

Then one day it was taken out of its nice velvet-lined sideboard drawer, put in Pat's handbag, and taken off to a new life of excitement. Pat promised it she would take it to Woking, where it would get to cut birthday and christmas cakes, and so much more. 'Going away to a new well paid permanent contract party' cakes. 'Taking Maternity Leave and giving a Secondment Opportunity party' cakes. 'Allegedly traditional for the place I went on holiday' cakes. 'We got a lottery grant' cakes. 'We didn't get a lottery grant' cakes. And even 'we don't seem to have had any cake for a while' cakes.

But first, Pat took the knife to Sarehole, where it was used to cut the 10 year anniversary cake. (Despite complaints that he was *blunt*). And a Birthday Cake.

He was soooo excited by the sounds and sights of the greater West Midlands that he decided he didn't want to settle down with a bunch of archivists, archaeologists, and other people who love cake, but that he would like to travel the world for a bit.

And so he contrived to fall into the Food Bag, and set off on his adventures ....

Brilliant, thank you. I hadn't even thought about thinking about looking up the battle yet.
