An occasionally useful icon, though not one I use a lot, as I tend to the relentlessly positive - it's a lifestyle choice. :-) But it's Daniel Jackson, so it's worth the keeping anyway.
More Daniel, from the early seasons, when how dangerous he could be was usually hidden under the floppy hair. But still, he was only ever "mostly" harmless.
Actually a quote from House - but I tended to use it when I made a RL related post, as opposed to a fandom one. These days I make a lot more RL posts, due to having more RL friends on LJ, so I'm more likely to use a range of icons.
A reference to Diane Duane's Young Wizards series. The place at the centre of time, where everything that has ever been loved survives. The photo is one I took of Lee Bay, in north Devon, one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I've ever been. It was my icon of choice around the time my grandmother died last year, and when I'm offering sympathy.
The Spanish Bride is a novel by Georgette Heyer, a long-time favorite author of mine. Unlike most of her books, though, it is actually based on a true story, of a Spanish girl who marries a British officer during the Peninsular War. I love the way she paints an image (obviously sanitised, but not as much as you might expect) of the army at war, and the other characters are far more than just background decoration.
One of my favourite characters from Doctor Who, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. This is a reference to a classic line of his, in an early 1970s serial, when confronted with a church gargoyle come to life. "Chap with the wings there, five rounds rapid."
