I must admit to buying the hint book to finish Monkey Island, I just couldn't leave the story half-finished.
Star Trek had this stupid thing where you had to scan a specific place on the screen with the tricorder before you could get any further into the game. I spent hours trying to find that stupid pixel, before I gave up in disgust. (No, I'm not still bitter, whatever gave you that idea? ;-D)
