For people who have upgraded to Firefox 4 or are deciding whether to do so, I've done a [community profile] shiny_things entry, with some hopefully useful links.

For new users of Firefox 4

I installed a couple of new extensions this morning, and it started me thinking about whether any of you can beat my current record of 26 active extensions. :-)

On the other hand, the last time I did this I had 28. It's interesting to see what I'm still using, what's been superseded by changes in Firefox and what was a passing fad. I'm still minimising the top of my browser (on my netbook I've got it down to one row of buttons), though I do have more navigation than I did.

My current list and my browser layout is under the cut )

I'd love to hear about the extensions you use and any suggestions you have. If you don't use Firefox (waving at [livejournal.com profile] nakeisha), I'd still be very interested to hear whether you use extensions, and how you get on with them.

A while ago I was reading the Mozilla Links blog and found a link to the Foxkeh website. He's the mascot for Mozilla Japan and is incredibly cute (I believe the word is kawaii :-D).

I went looking for an icon to use on LJ and couldn't find any, so I thought I might try making my own. They've released the graphics under a Creative commons license that allows remixes as long as it's not for profit and gives credit, which I think is an excellent idea and deserves support.

Whenever I get a new computer I'm always surprised by just so much setting up it needs to work just like the old one. Usually I have four or five years to forget, but this time it has only been a year. On the other hand, this one is does have a different operating system.

How far have I got? )

A couple of weekends ago we were talking about Firefox extensions, and I said I'd post about the ones I use. What about you? What extensions do you use, if any, do you have a particular favourite to recommend or any other comment to make?

This is my list of extensions - I'll cut it for length.

I know quite a number of you use Firefox, and having been inspired by a discussion on the firefoxusers comm I thought I'd ask.

How many extensions do you use?
Do you have a favourite - one you'd find particularly hard to live without?
Is there an extension that you think should be more widely known?
What's the most useless extension you've used/come across?

My list of extensions is here... )
