*Some of this probably won't make much sense if you're not in media fandom, just ignore it. :-)*

I've been rather quiet here lately, and particularly quiet about fannish things, so I thought I'd explain where my fannish heart is at the moment. I'd love to hear about your experiences with these fandoms or where you are at the moment.

As most of you probably know, I've been in Merlin fandom for several years now. I still love the characters and the relationship between Arthur and Merlin, but I've become increasingly disappointed with the way the producers have been handling the story, and in particular the lack of a magic reveal and Merlin still being characterised as a bumbling servant.

So I'm not actually watching this series of the show, at least not as it is shown on TV - maybe I'll catch up later. I'm still reading in the fandom, and still absolutely an OTPer- very much not interested in reading Merlin and Arthur with anyone else.

On the other hand, I've enjoyed the boost in Eagle of the Ninth fandom produced by the film last year, and I'm still reading there and enjoying the Reverse Big Bang stories that are currently posting. *waves to [livejournal.com profile] bunn*

I also fell for the Avengers film in a big way, and am enjoying a lot of good long stories written in the fandom, both in the film continuity and the comics. I don't think I'll ever get into the comics themselves, telling stories that way just doesn't work for me, but reading prose stories based on them is much more fun. My favourite characters are probably Steve (Captain America) and Natasha (Black Widow) but I also love Tony, and Darcy stories are often a lot of fun. I'll read pretty much any combination of Steve/Tony, Steve/Natasha or Steve/Darcy, but I love Peggy from the Captain America film as well - I want all the stories where she gets to join him in the future. Oh, and gen is great as well - there's so much plot here I'm very happy to background the romance.

I'm also a fan of redeeming Loki, as unlikely as I know it probably is - Tom Hiddleston is adorable, so sue me. :-)

I love the show, and read stories from recs (pretty much exclusively Sherlock/John, but gen is great as well) but I've never really got into the fandom - just too big, and I was still Merlin-obsessed back in the early days.

So I really don't have one main fandom at the moment, though I'm being kept in plenty to read. It's rather lonelier, as you don't have a smaller group of people to squee with, but that'll work itself out. Lurking has always tended to be my main media fandom behaviour, anyway
