I've realised that one of my favourite themes in fanfic is reunions - particularly family reunions.
There have been a few Stargate stories featuring Alternate Realities where Daniel's parents survived, but my favourite is Contingency by Brionhet - Daniel-centred gen.
Middle-earth gives even more opportunities for reuniting long-divided families. A new favourite is An Unexpected Meeting by Bodkin. Remember Mithrellas, the wood-elf who married into the family of the Princes of Dol Amroth? She travels to Gondor for the marriage of Aragorn and Arwen, and sees some familiar faces.
