A good week
Aug. 28th, 2009 11:51 amDue to the vagaries of our holiday bookings at work, I've been having another week off - nothing now until February. :-(
Still, it meant I've missed some of the worst of Back to School and got to do fun stuff instead.
I've been trying to meet
alitalf and Hibernia for a meal for months, and we finally decided that the solution was for me to stay overnight, thereby making the journey feasible by public transport. So I arrived for lunchtime, when we had a nice meal at a local pub by the canal, and got to play with computers, his and mine. (Compiz effects on Linux are very cool. ;-D)
pellegrina also joined us for dinner, and I'm afraid I demonstrated why it's never a good idea to put me near a computer in public - it's always far too fascinating to ignore. Still, it was lovely to see her, and I hope she didn't feel too neglected.
Home on Wednesday, another nice train journey - the advantage of travelling out of peak-time in the middle of the week is plenty of space to spread out (I had a carriage to myself between LB and Northampton).
Then Wednesday evening, I went round to see
gayalondiel for Supernatural DVDs and admiring of kittens. They are still extremely cute and had no qualms about climbing over me, though I did get a bit concern at the fixed look one of them was giving my G & T - bad kitten, no alcohol. ;-)
I'm still playing with Linux - I'm currently very pleased with the open source version of Lemmings, a game that swallowed far too much of my life in the early '90s, but I'll write a proper post about that soon, which anyone not into computers can ignore.
