Question meme

gayalondiel asked me some questions last week, and I finally found the tuits to answer them:

1) You meet JRRT. You have three questions. What do you ask?
Well, I suppose I could ask him to settle the Balrog wings question but then what would we have to argue about? (no, I don't need a list ;-D)

I'm not sure I'd want to ask specific questions as such, my mind always goes blank, but I'd love to talk to him about philology, about the development of languages and how they relate to each other. It's such a fascinating idea.

2) If you had to exist in any of the Blackadder canons, which one and whom would you be (character or OC)?
guilty secret I actually had a crush on Elizabethan Blackadder for about 5 mins in the Kate/Bob episode - and Queenie strikes me as a wonderful person to be. :-)
3) What are your favourite things about fandom?
Friends, people who get what I'm talking about, wonderful creative people who write stories I love to read and make vids I love to watch.
4) What are your pet peeves in fic?
Mostly the usual ones, from homophones to epithets. Apart from that, I don't like characters who are sympathetic in canon being presented in a bad light (bashing) and I don't like my beloved characters treating each other badly and not acknowledging it. I also hold grudges about depressing endings or at least the unwarned for ones.
5) Are there any warnings/subjects in a fic that make you just go "ugh, no, not that"?
Character death (with very few exceptions), infidelity and anything else that breaks up the pairing I'm reading the story for. I read fanfic for the characters I love to wind up happy and together at the end (or happy and still friends in a gen fic) and it takes a pretty special story to overcome that.
