Real life has rather eaten this journal lately, but that doesn't mean I haven't been reading and enjoying some excellent Merlin (and Sherlock) fic and squeeing on Twitter.
I'll try to do a rec post one of these days, but in the meantime I'm thoroughly enjoying the release of the new Avengers movie. I don't know whether I will get into the fandom - there's a lot of interesting characters there, but no pairings that match with what I need out of my OTPs, and that tends to limit my interest in the fandom, though not as much in the source.
Loki hits my ambigious/potentially redeemable villain buttons in a big way and Tom Hiddleston seems like a really great guy - I really enjoyed the article he wrote in praise of comic book films for the Guardian.
On the other hand, I was surprised to find that my favourite character was Black Widow:
( See here )
She's not super-powered, just super-competent, and just as good at talking the bad guys out of their plans as she is at kicking their asses. :-) I shouldn't be surprised really, this is Joss Whedon, after all, but it's great to have a film where the main female character is part of the team, not just eye-candy, however good she looks in black leather.
Before we went on Thursday, Carer made me watch 2 1980s TV Movies with the TV Hulk - I have fond memories of watching the series as a child, and Bill Bixby still makes a great Bruce Banner. So when someone linked to this, I had to share -
( Avengers 1980s style )
