Time flies...
Nov. 18th, 2012 02:29 pmI'm finding it hard to believe it, but yesterday was the first anniversary of the date we moved to this house. We had a little celebration - takeaway curry from the Indian restaurant in the next village over, and some yummy salted caramel profiteroles from M&S. (Can anyone tell me why salted caramel has suddenly become a thing? I'd never seen it until a year or so ago, and now it's cropping up all over the place. In any case, I approve. :-D)
If I'm honest, I have to say that there are times I still miss the old house, not so much the building itself as the memories it held, but this one is getting to feel more like home all the time. I miss being walking distance from work (and from gayalondiel's new place) but Winchcombe is a really nice place to live. I think I just need to find the right groups to start taking part more in the community - not having any friends locally who I see regularly is depressing, and it's not helped by the change of job. (My new colleagues are nice enough, but none of them are kindred spirits, even as much as some of my Smiths people were.)
Still, I'm making a start on that - as I said in a recent post, I've volunteered to help out on the steam railway and I have an induction day next Saturday. I may not be able to do much until after Christmas, but we shall see.
