More Dreamwidth

This is partly a test of the Dreamwidth cross-posting system - in theory I should be able to post to both journals from the standard DW posting page.

But just so it's not completely contentless - there's this that I posted in a comment earlier, for anyone who wants to sign up by OpenID.


Go here - http://www.dreamwidth.org/openid/ and sign in (in the box in the middle of the page) with yourusername.livejournal.com .

You'll get an account with a reading (friends) page, and the ability to have people give you access to their locked posts.

If you set up an email address with Dreamwidth as well, they will email you any replies to your comments and it gives you the best chance of being sent an invite code for a full account when the site goes into open beta.

It seems pretty successful, and I was able to edit the post and the changes happened in both places as well. :-)

No, they don't, which is why you can set it up with comments turned off on LJ and a link here for people to comment.

I don't think I'll usually bother with that though, I don't mind having conversations in two places. :-)

I have difficulty keeping track of more than one conversation, most of the time. If only I could add a few terrabytes extra fast ram to my brain...

Well, I've signed in - as you suggested - and had a little play around, but I don't know how to add a userpic etc. Any suggestions? Or do I have to wait for the full account thingy?

I kept clicking on things until I got to a page for icons: http://www.dreamwidth.org/editpics.bml. I can't remember where I went on my way there, but perhaps you can just go straight to that URL and upload something?

Sorry, I missed this - GB is right, if you go to editpics.bml you should be able to upload your icons.

Actually *everyone* who has validated an OpenID will get an invite code when the site goes into open beta. And many will get one before that.

I'm just being paranoid and hedging my bets - but you're right, they did say everyone who's got a properly set up OpenID account will get a code.
