Doctor Who :-)

Most of this is going to need to go under a cut but I just wanted to squee in public about just how much I've enjoyed the last series of Doctor Who. I'm not claiming for a moment that it was perfect, but so far, I think it's my favourite of the new run.
I think a lot of it has to do with how much I love Matt Smith's Doctor. I wasn't sure what to expect, though I had a fair amount of faith that Stephen Moffat knew what he was doing, but I think his judgement has been completely vindicated. I liked Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant as the Doctor, I found them interesting, impressive and convincing, but Matt Smith I loved. Not fancied, but felt like an old and very dear friend - which is quite impressive from an actor that many years my junior.
He's very old and very kind, and he bites people to prove they aren't made of stone, and he's never seen a miracle but that doesn't mean he refuses to believe in them. We're told all these things for the first time, and you think, of course, didn't I always know that about him?
Then there's Amy. Before this, if you'd asked me for my favourite new companion, I'd have gone for Martha every time, not because I disliked Rose or Donna, but just because she was the one I could relate to. Now though, I'm really not sure. She and Amy are both brilliant characters, but I do prefer Amy's relationship with her Doctor.
If you also liked the latest series, you might like the Can-Can version:
Or possibly Amy Pond's page on Facebook with the wedding photos. :-)

I can't wait to learn about the Egyptian goddess and the Orient Express...is it Christmas yet? (And that's not something you hear from shop workers very often. ;-D)
