A Space Oddity

Just in case anyone hasn't seen this elsewhere - filmed on the International Space Station, Colonel Chris Hadfield singing David Bowie's song.

To me he's been a credit and an inspiration, making living in space real to the social media generation, and I wish him all the best in his return to Earth. (How long before someone starts a campaign to get him a knighthood? I know I'd support it. :-D)

Canada doesn't do knighthoods, since 1917 or so. The last time the UK tried to knight a dual citizen (under Tony Blair) it caused a diplomatic spat. Chris Hadfield is already a member of the Order of Ontario; the next logical step would be for him to be appointed to the Order of Canada or perhaps the Order of Merit.

Ah, I didn't know that, thanks for the information.

Quite apart from the fangirl squeeing, I would have thought that being not only the first Canadian but also the first subject of Elizabeth II to command the ISS would warrant some kind of official recognition, however that's expressed. We shall see. :-)
