Did anyone else see Primeval this evening? I thought it was pretty fun - cute guys with angsty pasts, the Forest of Dean (looking suitably spooky) and DINOSAURS. :-) I shall certainly be tuning in next week - something to keep me going till Doctor Who starts again.

And Life of Mars starts again next week as well, it's months since I've had something to actually turn the TV on to watch. *does happy dance*

Now I'm curious. I'm obviously pretty familiar with the Forest of Dean, it's pretty close and also where my maternal grandmother came from. But I'm wondering just how well known it is if you're from other parts of the country or even further afield.

So a poll. And if you have any other answers please let me know as well.

I put 'general knowledge' - but in fact (being from S England)I hadn't heard of the F of D until I went to college where you live! Since then I've been Youth Hostelling through it with my chidren (who sould therefore know it as well!)

I thought it was a very suitable place for the anomaly and the dinosaurs. I also thought the first episode was a cracking start, and look forward to the rest.

I've just watched it, having recorded it yesterday. I enjoyed it, and am definately going to keep watching. I used to go to the Forest of Dean quite a lot when I was young, but I haven't yet recognised any specific places in the show. I did a night hike in the Forest for my Duke of Edinburgh award, and found it surprisingly scary (though as far as I know, no dinosaurs were hunting us.)

I don't know why the dinosaur followed that boy to school, though. Maybe his blood tasted exceptionally good...

I just looked at the ITV's Primeval website, and it turns out that they don't know where the Forest of Dean is, either. On the map (http://primeval.itv.com/cutters_office.html) on the front page of the website, they've put it just next to the M25, north-east of London.

I did put "I can't wait for Doctor Who" but I will have to as I don't have a television...

Umm, well I didn't really like it. I thought well all these guys and gals are supposed to be experts in this field, why didn't they know what anything was and have to wait for a man with a computer to tell them. That annoyed me. Also how did no one notice these dinosaurs, the Forest of Dean isn't that big. But hey I guess it's something to pass the time....
