It's Saturday...

Had quite a nice day today - took Mum to Frankie and Benny's for her Mother's Day meal. (I didn't try to do it last Sunday, as sorting meals for Grandma can be tricky, but Saturday is fish and chips day, so it's easier.) We both enjoyed our meal and Mum liked the Cosmopolitan I bought her - thanks to gayalondiel for starting me on the cocktail thing.

Then I went for an eye test and looked at new glasses - but they were so insistent that I needed thinned lenses for my (fairly high) prescription, which would cost another £120, I decided that I would shop around. I don't want to seem mean, but glasses never used to cost me more than a week's wages.

On another note, I decided to try another LJ layout - the dark one was peaceful, but occasionally hard on the eyes. nakeisha what do you think of this one? :-)

To be honest, I think part of it was their attitude - fair enough, that's what these frames cost, but if you have a customer who is obviously baulking at the price then surely the solution is to try and find them something that works for them, rather than insisting that this is the only possibility, when it blatantly wasn't. As a result they've probably lost the sale altogether.

Glad you like the new layout - I wasn't sure about the yellow/browness of it, but it's growing on me. And certainly it's got the dark on light contrast which makes in easier to read.

Now that's totally the wrong attitude! As you say you find something else for the customer - it's appalling that they didn't. Shocking.

I think your opticians have probably shot themselves in the foot - after all, there are plenty of others to shop around to! I'm very lucky with mine, who never try this kind of thing on - no doubt because Specsavers is just up the road. Unfortunately it's no use my recommending them, as they're local!

I'm definitely reluctant to go back to them now - even if they would be the cheapest.

Fortunately there are quite a few other options in town, so I'll be checking them out in my lunch breaks.
