In honour of the last episode of Ashes to Ashes last night (which I was really impressed by, as it became clear the explanation had been there all along, but they'd managed to hide it very successfully as far as I was concerned).

Three vids linking Life on Mars and Ashes in Ashes in different and interesting ways.

Firstly by the song - Bowie to Bowie by fahrbotdrusilla, as two Bowie songs connect across the decades.

Then some very clever audio and image editing by jagwriter78, Ashes of Mars, a short vid comparing and contrasting our two heroes.

And finally hollywoodgrrl has made wonderful use of "Ashes to Ashes" the song, to tell Alex's story. The summary - "This happened to him. It can't happen to me." How Alex Drake discovers that the man she really fears is none other than Sam Tyler.

Yes, Ashes to Ashes was really good, wasn't it? I liked the way it could have been real, but on the other hand it could have all been in Alex's head, piecing her memories together to get at the truth.

Another series to come - I wonder how many series they will make of this one?

It'll be interesting to see. They do seem to have a much better hold on how far you can take a concept than a lot of TV writers/producers - less of the dragging a series out way past its sell-by date.
